Transitory Meditations 2002
two drawings 30 x 40 inches each
We were commissioned by Cathy Brynner, wife of the late actor Yul Brynner, to design and build works that related to movement and notions of the families migrational history for the dining room of her New York City apartment. We created two large drawings, each on opposite ends of her dining room table. These drawings were to complement three hand carved `pillars' of red cedar placed in and around the dining room and varying in height from five to seven feet. Each column was to contain objects that related to the families migrational history. Unfortunately Mrs. Brynner passed away before the three sculptural pieces were carved.
